Red, Rust and Gold: Soft Wall Hanging

Soft wall hangings made from layered, stitched, and reclaimed pieces of fabric.

Each piece begins with leftover scraps, fragments of cloth gathered over time and brought together through stitching, patchwork, and embroidery. The fabrics are sewn, lightly stuffed, and shaped into soft textile forms.

Small embroidered details run across the surfaces, adding texture to the work. Individual forms are connected using wooden beads, allowing the hanging to move gently while also bringing together different fragments into a single composition.

The process is intuitive and slow. Colours, textures, and materials are assembled gradually, allowing unexpected relationships to emerge between fabrics from different contexts and uses. Slight irregularities, visible seams, and shifts in texture are part of the work itself.

Lightweight and tactile, these wall hangings bring softness, colour, and material memory into a space.

Made by hand in small batches by artisans in rural Assam.
